Originally formed from a portion of exiled fey, the Kyorin make their home from the southern edge of the Summerland Plains, down throughout the Great Southern Forest and right up to the edge of the Yeolkin Plateau. Though numerically few, Kyorin tend to live in small widespread hamlets and villages and rarely travel further than the nearest neighboring village.
Unlike many of the other nations and peoples, the Kyorin tend to be race-blind when drawing their boundaries of insider and outsider. The original Kyorin currently only represent about a third of those bearing the name. An amalgam of humans, halflings, half-orcs and the very rare gnome or dwarf make up the other two-thirds of the village. In place of race, religious practice serves as the key identifying factor.
Every Kyorin town is built around a striking natural feature serving as a node of the Jade Stream’s divine power. Kyorin life centers on the reverence and protection of these nodes of power. Those who dedicate their lives to the service of the Jade Stream and choose to live around these nodes are officially accepted as Kyorin.
